About Me: Having spent the last 3 years slaving over a PhD and teaching, I'm taking time out for travel - yeah!! So I have four months to make my way across Central and South America, a trip I've been dreaming about since I was little. It's my first time as a solo backpacker, so I'm a little apprehensive, but absolutely ecstatic at the same time. This blog should keep everyone up to date on the trip and be of some comfort to my family, who fully expect to receive a picture of me tied to a palm tree with a missing finger and a '$10000 ransom note strapped to my torso.
