Thursday 16 Jul
I arrived Santiago at 5am in the morning and had to wait till 2pm to get the next flight to Argentina. I did what I have practised so often on the airport in Auckland; take your earplugs and eyemask and sleep on a bench at some Gate! I finally arrived in Argentina, Cordoba and Simons (my friend from Germany) place at 6pm. It was so cool to see each other again after quite a long time (last time we met I visited him in Berlin). Simon was for three months in Cordoba and shared an appartment with three argentinian girls, one english and one american guy. We sat together with his roommates in the living room and ordered Empanadas for dinner. I was the first who went to bed because I was deadly tired. The others went out that night and I had a good sleep.
The next day we made a plan where we wanted to travel in the next two weeks. Simon was off until the fourth of august and we wanted to see as much we can. For me it was important to go to the saltdesert in Bolivia and Simon wanted to go the ocean in Chile. We decided to take the nightbus to Mendoza on saturday, then take a bus to Santiago, from there a bus up the coast until San Pedro de Atarcama, book a tour there to Bolivia and cross the border from there to Argentina. With a good plan in our mind we walked through the city to find some new shoes for Simon. We had a great dinner in the evening and a loud preparty with the roommates back home. At 3am (!) we went to a club where Simon met a friend. It´s so crazy in Argentina concerning the eating and going out times. They have a small sweet breakfast, lunch at three, some more sweets and dinner at 11pm! No one goes in a club before two am and no one returns before seven in the morning!
We had a good selfmade breakfast on saturday morning or afternoon, chilled in the living room, I booked my flight to Manaus, we bought our bus ticket for the night and finally got on the bus at 22.45pm.
