We're Ok! No worries. We're in South Dakota. We've been very bad about updating the blog because a) we are lazy, b) we've been busy, c) we lost the computer, d) we are lazy, or e) all of the above. I hope you all picked e because that's the correct answer. Those of you who are familiar with the fable about the ant and the grasshopper may have deduced by now that we are clearly grasshoppers. Right now we are using the computer in a coffee house near Mt. Rushmore. Our trip has been great . We just posted all the places we've visted on the map but we have no time right now to give details. Here's a synopsis: We made it to California! Alge loves the Pacific. We met up with Nathan and Chris in Santa Barbara for a crazy sailing adventure. We met some great VW mechanics there who finally fixed our brakes. We drove up to Yosemite where we saw mountain lions and drove into the side of a narrow bridge (there goes the paint job). We decided to take Alge back to the Pacific so we went to Big Sur and drove the coast. We headed out for the Grand Canyon but Boogie's engine exploded outside of Bakersfield. We got a 200 mile tow to Santa Barbara where our favorite mechanics let us camp in their alley while they rebuilt the engine. That's right. In the alley. For two weeks. We're fine. It was actually super fun and we made a lot of new friends in SB. Plus, Alge was a huge hit there. Maybe we'll move... Anyhoo, then we had to drive the new engine 1000 miles and bring it back to SB to get checked out. When we finally got back on the road we hit Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon. Then we decided to go home via the Northerly Route so we went up to Glacier. Needless to say, we did not budget for a new engine so... there has been a lot of peanut butter and ramen noodles in our lives (see grasshopper fable). We have about 8 days to make it back to Delaware, so please wish us luck. Eventually we will post the rest of our pictures (the ones we still have). Hope all is well with everyone! PS if you live somewhere between South Dakota and Delaware (Erin and Ope) you maybe should be expecting us.
