Friday 25 May
Wellington, New Zealand
We know someone who knows the mayor's son so don't mess with us..
There is no doubting it. NZ is truly stunning and Wellington is no exception. Think mountains, green hills & water every where you look. I would even go so far as to say it reminds me of our beloved Cape Town. And
THAT is saying something. But don't take our word for it....click here to see!
We spent a touristy day starting with the phenomenal view from Mt Victoria. Then onto Te Papa (cultural & history museum) where we experienced a virtual bungy jump (to prepare us if we decide to take the plunge in Queenstown), a virtual earthquake & learnt about all sorts of interesting things. We then went up the red cable car, walked through the botanical gardens, checked out the beehive (modernist building that looks just like the real thing just a lot uglier) & the parliament building. Finishing up on the cathedral which we thought was of the Old Paul variety but which was really the Wellington cathedral. Put it this way - we dropped extra money in the donation pot because it is in desperate need of an overhaul. Not very pretty.
Off to have my first hair cut now since the last shave (December) & then off for some yummy dinner at one of the multitude of veggie places, followed by a drink at one of the multitude of watering holes.
Check out www.facebook.com for those of you who haven't it. It seems everyone is on it these days so you will find yours truely amongst them.
