Iguazu Falls, Argentina
Ice-cream and steaks in Argentina
Finally arriving in Argentina after a very long journey through 15,000 Bolivian rivers, 4 guys from Buenos Aires and a Canadian struck up conversation with us as we crossed the border on foot. We were soon sampling the famous Argentinian steaks and wine with them and becoming fast friends. Having left Jeremy at the Chilean border 3 days before, we wasted no time in replacing him with not one, but five boys!!
The chicos from BA were great company for the following days, introducing us to Argentina as we maneuvered our way south and dealt with closed roads and 2am bus searches. Mendoza found Miki and I chilling out a lot, eating a lot of icecream and studying Spanish as if we only had a week left in a Spanish speaking country - which was true. Unfortunately we could only fit in 8 hours of lessons, but it was money well spent as I now know all the ice-cream flavours in Spanish. Argentinian ice-cream by the way, is comparable to Italian gelati - ie, it is very, very good. Dad: they even have ice-cream home delivery, you'd love it!!
After some fantastic hospitality from Esteban (one of the guys from B.A.) we left Buenos Aires for Iguazu Falls as a 5, with Kristian and Zoe our new additions. The Falls were absolutely spectacular. The photos I have added here just don't do them justice. They can't really capture the enormity, splendor and sheer volume of water coming out of the world's biggest falls!!
So after two weeks in Argentina (where the buses are AWESOME by the way), it is time yet again to move on. Brazil will be the last of 21 countries to visit before I am homeward bound. And annoyingly, our Spanish will be almost completely useless in this Portuguese-speaking-soccer-crazy-havaiana-wearing country.
