Last day in KK
Last day in KK and the waves are still rocking in my head from yesterday's island snorkelling adventure!
This morning, lazy buffet breakfast before check-out of Seaside Travellers Inn in Kinarut, half hour south of KK. A lovely seaside (obviously) accommodation with pool, comfortable rooms, yummy food and excellent friendly service. Taxi ride with the lovely "Martin" into KK for last minute internet (not that I've had access for most of this trip), souvenir shopping and last of yummy spicy Malay cuisine (love chapati and teh tarek).
Unfortunately my dog (greyhound) King escaped through the gate last night when the bins were being put out. But amazingly, on the internet here in Borneo, I've managed to track him down...he has been found and is safe....what a relief!
I'll have to update everything between leaving KK last Sunday, until returning to KK yesterday, at home in beautiful Bris-vegas. But in summary...what an intrepid adventure! Delicious food, beautiful forests (what's left of them!), challenging rocky mountain climb, luscious jungle day and night walks, home-stay, eco-camp, spotting awesome animals and birds (flying squirrels a highlight, but you can't get better than wild orang-utans and proboscis monkey!), did I mention the yummy food?, lovely friendly Borneo people.....defo on the list to return here....should the chance present itself.
Selamat jalan!

PS a closing thought....please try and avoid products with palm oil (nearly everything has it)! The palm oil plantations here are exhaustive and extensive, as far as the eye can see. The money in palm oil is very lucrative for the locals (which is great) and the giant corporations. A better way needs to be found, to stop further destruction of the primary and secondary forests...hence limiting the available homes and resources for the native flora and fauna.
