Last day and trip home
Packed our bags and did a last bit of souvenir shopping and then we caught 2 cabs to Tom Murphy's house at Putney. Spent the day with them and Bec Murphy. Went to the local pub across the common and spent a few hours there. Had some showers and a bit of dinner and then caught a large cab out to the airport at 6pm. Our flight was due to leave at 10pm. Everything was going well and we boarded early and got comfy. Taxied off and then the pilots said they could hear a funny noise in the wheel so we would be returning to get the engineers to check it out and it shouldn't take long. But then they had to ring Sydney maintenance (we were flying Qantas) and then all the wheels had to be checked and then one had to be changed. So 4 hours later at 2am in the morning we took off!! Nick slept through all of that. I think Al was delirious by then as he didn't sleep through any of it. He went straight to sleep as we were going up and proceeded to sleep for 8 hours, so not too bad. It was a 15 hour flight. It made it a very long trip to Singapore but everyone slept as we were so tired by then, except for me. Al hogs most of the seat and I was terrified he was going to fall off. Instead of waiting a few hours in Singapore we boarded straight away as they had delayed that plane for us, although a lot of people had to stay the night in Singapore as they had missed their connections. So another 7 hour flight which seemed short in comparison. Made it through Customs easily except for the mandarin I had lost down the bottom of my bag. Was I sure that I didn't have anything else like that in my bags that I had forgotten about she kept asking me. Probably but I wasn't about to tell her was I?? Arrived in Brisbane at 9am Monday morning and was greeted by Mama and Pappi Murphy and Grandma and Grandad Mockler. I think they had only been waiting a few hours!! A little bit tired but nice to be home although it is a little bit humid for us. We might take a while to acclimatise. The kids opened their presents from Santa that had been left for them and then went swimming. Certainly wouldn't be doing that back in London.
A great trip and I am sure the kids will have memories of it for ever. We only have 2500 photos to show you all and as Pete said it would probably be 5000 if he hadn't deleted half of Josie's. So it is only the highlights!!
