Welcome, this page has been made to allow our friends and families to see our pics and hear our news from our trip out to Vietnam via Hong Kong. All 4 of us in this trip (Peter, Liam, John James and Andrew) are from the Shetland Islands, Scotland, and after many many nights of drinks and talk of holidays abroad, John James and Liam have convinced me and Andrew that we should go away for the trip of a lifetime, so here we are :)

Vung Tau, Vietnam - Well Well - A Long Needed Update _ :D
Well, once again, we are online - and i have decided its time we updated this page - which to be honest hasnt happened as often as i planned... Anyway, we are back this morning from a 5 hour motorbike tour - where JJ has suffered some pretty bad sunburn - but im sure the drams will sort it out...lol

The cruise was simply amazing - and our tour guide Mr Khan was excellent - he was singing us songs and p[art taking in a few merry drinks too..lol. More shall be divulged once we get home...haha... We met another scottish person too - Natalie Roy - who has been travelling for 1 and a half years, and i must say - we all loved the banter..

We have been at some spa / mud bath place today, where they can naturaly cook eggs in water at 82oC.. Its been the hotest day of the holiday here in Vung Tau today, with minumim temps at 36oC - fairly hot..

We have met Mai and Mouse (who JJ an Liam know from before) and have had a few excellent days to add to the two adventure weeks we have all spent together - its been some trips boys eh??.. Feel rather sorry for Andrew that he has had to leave the group and head to his Graduation - although this cannot be helped..

Only his comment can sum up this holiday - "The best two weeks of my life".. I have a feeling that this can be said by all, and until you have been here and experienced it, i feel i cannot do the place justice by trying to descirbe it in words - we are all relishing the prospect of comming home - it honestly is such a lovely place..

At the moment, im using a bars internet - which every pub here has - its awesome - and a must for pubs home :)

There is so much news to mention i cannot fully mind it all.. We are going to be staying here for atleast 1 more day, then possibly heading to Dalat - which should be a little cooler..lol..

Im going to go off now, and enjoy the local atmosphere, but we shall keep you posted asap

Cheers For Now...

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - Back Into Ho Chi Minh City - Rain :(
Yet again we are back in to Ho Chi Minh City - But today its been a little wet.. I know we are used to rain - but until you see this it really is unreal. Within about 30 minutes the road was completely blocked. Water was upto car bumpers, and causing scooters to cut out..lol..

Andrew was completely taken by as an american fell in the water, and was in love with the 'Oh Man' phrase !! haha.. As it was a little of a wet day, we dedided to go and tour some local indoor places.

We started off at the 'Renummeration Palace' which until you see the pics, words cannot describe how 'Grande' and nice it is. We have wifi access now, and im hopin JJ will spare his laptop long enough to stick up some off the 400+ pics i have taken so far..

After a few bottles of beer awaiting the rain to clear (as you do when they were 8'000 each - cheaper than a can o coke - 20p) we decided to try the War Museum - where the heavens just opened..

As its midnight here, we are gonna call this internet it for the night, but as before all is going good - postcards are on the way - and tomorrow we are flying to Hanoi where we shall be taking a 3 day tour of Halong Bay on what is called a Deluxe Junk Boat - Should be an experience..

Cheers

Vung Tau, Vietnam - Vietam - First Thoughts Etc
Well hello all, thats us gotten to vietnam a few days ago, and gotten on to the www at long last !! Haha.. Had a few complications with a tech flight / aircraft in hong kong, but in a way it did us a favour, as we met JJ without any wait - none of us could belive how well time wize it worked in..

Immigration was worse than first thought, but after a majorly long wait we got let in to the country (I dont think they were quite sure what they are letting themselves in for) lol...

As for the weather, its HOT - hong kong wasnt too bad (about 32oC) then into Ho Chi Minh City, which even at 6pm local time was 37oC.. A Little warmer than Shetland !! We have taken a day trip down to Vung Tau, which is where i am writing this, and have seen some lovely places, been up a massive hill to see a huge statue of jesus or something, and just been for lunch in a restraunt that serves such 'delights' as Snake (Where you actually choose your own one to eat from the tank), mice, rats etc etc... We are thinking to head back to base very soon though..

In Ho Chi Minh yesterday, we had a bbq made infront of us, and ramdomly choose our food - which ended up being Deer, Beef, Wild Boar and Goat all in different local sauces - something very new to us, but my goodeness it was delicious..Including soft drinks, food and beer the whole night - it cost a mere ten pounds for us all..

I think i have taken about 150 photos so far, as there are so many nice things to see.. I cant get pics up today, although i hopefully will do soon..

Got to go for now, but shall try and update asap.

One last main note for the family's - We are all well, Doing fine, and are having a ball..

Cheers

Shetland, United Kingdom - Thats Everthing All Booked - Yippee !! :)
Well, thats everything sorted for this vietnam trip - flying with British Airways the whole way, Sumburgh, Shetland (LSI) to Aberdeen (ABZ) then onto London Heathrow (LHR). Once we have had time for a lot of beers its off on the overnighter to Hong Kong (HKG) then an early morning flight in to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (On the New Airbus A330 - Cathay Pacific)..

Just awaiting Liams passport to be returned from the UK Passport Agency, then its fill in the Vietnam Entry / Exit Visa Forms, pay the fees, and send them into the Vietnam Embassy in London and we are set....

John James is away again to sea on Monday, so sounds like its going to be a heafty weekend out - AGAIN - but its all needed :) Then we are meeting him in time for Vietnam.. lol.. Who would of thought that when we booked these flights 5 months ago the time would fly past ??? - Afterall, its only 9 weeks on monday :O :O

Keep an eye out here for further updates !! Hopefully we will be uploading lots of pics along the way as well !!

Cheers Cool
