It all starts here.

Here goes, my first blog post.

Well, if you're viewing this you will know I have been planning a big adventure for some time now - both as a pipe dream initially and eventually making it a reality. It is quite daunting to up sticks completely.

Selling up in Stamford was a big deal after all the work I did on the place, but in the end a house is just a house and, while it was a great place for a while, it was just in the wrong place for where my life was leading me. After living in the Holiday Inn more than I lived in Stamford, something had to change. Abingdon has been a lovely place to live and I feel like I have barely scratched the surface there. I hope to move back in the future if things work out that way.

But before then, the world awaits!

The last few weeks have been a mass of emotions and discovery, particularly about the amount of planning needed to make things happen! I have had more quotes, ideas and realisations than I can count, but finally the most important bits are done:

The flights are booked!

The travel insurance is booked!

The trips to Burma, Java and Indochina are booked (thank you to Intrepid)!

The passport has gone off for the first of many visas!

The travel injections and pills have been bought and jabbed!

Now just need to sort out the rest...

I will keep updating this blog as I go and look forward to being able to upload some interesting photos and stories on my way.
