Crossing The Andes

Wow, that was an awesome trip across The Andes into Chile! We passed through some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen.

Our Border crossing to get to Santiago was very much the highlight of our stay in Chile. Even with a 3 hour stop over at the border waiting for the customs officers to clear our bus and bags, it was not such a bad place to be stuck for 3 hours.

Along the way to Santiago we passed over massive mountains, with roads cutting back and forth down them to allow us to pass. At the bottom we arrived into green vineyards with all types of fruit and grapes. From here we moved into a desert like area where there was only cactus plants as far as the eye could see, quite a contrast for a 4 hour bus ride from the border.

Santiago was a nice city but another big town, and after a few days in Mendoza we were just looking forward to flying to Peru and a change.
