Rotorura headed to Christchurch

Picked up a Hertz car in Auckland on Monday, November 9th and drove to Rotorura. Beautiful drive - lots of farm land (saw more cows than sheep) and stopped at a tourist attaction on the way into town. A combo ticket got us a gondola ride up the mountain and back, 2 luge rides (not the kind of luge you're thinking of but VERY Fun !) and a Sky Swing (hoisted up 180 meters then dropped - acceleration got up to 150 MPH). We laughed ourselves silly !

We then hit the Tourist office to secure a room for the night (Deb... does this sound familiar... ?). Decent room - Highlight - it has a jacuzzi tub ! We went to a local tourist attraction that is open until 10pm to see the nocturnal Kiwi's and drank water from a natural spring. Rounded out the day with a trip to the local grocery store - picked up a salad, some fruit, salami & crackers and a bottle of local champagne. Had ourselves a Motel Picnic and drank the champagne in the jacuzzi !

Headed back to Auckland tomorrow (Tuesday, November 10th) to catch a flight to Christchurch.....

yeah sounds familar re: securing a room. Actually, ur securing a room on the anniversary of the wall coming down! u guys were in Germany when that happened, right?
