Thursday 24 Jul
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

day 109

After a quick wade into the sea to get very close to some pelikans we jump into a water taxi for the short ride to isle tintorise, the local name for the Galapagos reef shark. We have a half hour trek on the island, the island is the breeding ground for the marine iguanas, there are literally 100s of them including one area they call the kindergarden where many baby iguanas are playing.  Further on we spot 3 Galapagos white tip reef sharks that are resting in a shallow canal in the rocks. After the trek we have a snorkeling session around the island before boarding a speed boat for a 2 hour journey to the isle of santa cruz. Its the most touristy of all the islands with many restaurants , bars and shopping outlets selling souveniers. Spend the afternoon on the beach, sorting out my dive equipment for tomorrow and saying goodbye to some from the party who are leaving in the morning.
