Gili Trawangan, Indonesia
Finally a qualification out of all of this -
Sticking to our mature natures we have finally decided that we simply must achieve SOMETHING on this trip apart from the usual fun, sand and partying... we have decided to learn how to dive!
Yep - started our PADI openwater course yesterday and in a mere few days we will be able to dive to 18m by ourselves! Woo hoo! Our teacher is brilliant and we have already dived to 12m which was scary but exciting at the same time. We have been meaning to do it for um... like the last 6 months and discussed the need to get off our butts in Thailand for at least 6 weeks, but never managed to do anything about it. Being so busy with the sand, fun and partying...
So we are having to listen to all the partying going on around us - our neighbours were up til 6am this morning with pounding tunes, but at the moment our bodies are our temples and we slept like newly born kittens. After a couple of nightcaps of course.
The Gili islands (Gili means island so literally Island islands!) are pretty and chilled out and we are staying at a very friendly and semi chic place (by our standards down right boutique hotel) - Big Bubble for 10 quid a night incl. brekkie and free coffee and tea all day.
We absolutely love Indonesia & the Indonesians and would definitely recommend it as a fantastic holiday destination.
