Beach and Dive time
It was time to leave the city and head to the beach.
Ayvalik is a small fishing town with a charming old Greek village in the hills with narrow, cobblestone streets complete with horse and carriaages carrying the fruits and vegetables of the day.
Turkey reminded me of Korea - where men with carts walk down the streets and shout out what the have available for sale at the time.
Beans, beans, I have lots of beans. Do you want to buy some beans? They are really good beans!
I wandered around in the morning throughout the streets and then heading to the beach for some well needed relaxation and cooling off in the tuquoise sea. Not many people here are foreigners unless they are from the Ukraine. There is very little English spoken here, but I have managed to get what I need. My small amounts of Spanish, French and Korean are not helping me here - so I have resorted to sign language and pointing. It is amazing that one can get by and figure things out and get what you need through the help of strangers and just looking around. Travel is often too easy if you don't get to experience a little of this type of place now and again.
I was off to book my diving, all set up for a day out on the boat tomorrow.
